Pleasant Pet™ is a 300 mg broad-spectrum hemp oil for dogs and cats, made on a single licensed hemp farm in Ijamsville, Maryland. This page exists so you can evaluate it the way you would evaluate anything else you put your name behind.

What changes on October 1, 2026

Maryland SB 54 and HB 452 take effect October 1, 2026. The State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners may no longer suspend or revoke a license, reprimand or censure a licensee, or place a licensee on probation solely on the basis of discussing or recommending cannabis, or a product containing cannabidiol, for an animal's potential therapeutic effect or health supplementation.

The law protects the conversation. It does not authorize dispensing, it does not create a prescribing pathway, and it does not change federal law. It also says nothing about whether any product works. We are not going to tell you otherwise.

All hemp-derived products distributed by Fingerboard Farm are compliant with the Farm Bill of 2018 and contain no more than 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Testing and what a COA does and does not cover

A current Certificate of Analysis is available on our Lab Results page. Please review it for the cannabinoid potency and THC results the laboratory actually reported.

Two things we want stated plainly rather than discovered later:

• A COA applies only to the identified sample or lot. It is not evidence about every production lot. Match the COA to the lot in front of you whenever possible.
• The currently linked COA should not be treated as a complete toxin or contaminant panel unless those analytes and results appear on the laboratory report itself.

For lot-level review, the analytes worth confirming are the cannabinoid profile and total CBD concentration, the THC result and the laboratory's reporting limit, pesticides and herbicides, heavy metals including arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury, residual solvents, and microbial contaminants and mycotoxins. Fingerboard Farm can provide available lot-specific supporting documentation on request.

Research, and what it is not

We are not presenting the studies below as clinical trials of Pleasant Pet™. They are peer-reviewed veterinary CBD studies offered for your independent review. Formulations, doses, populations, outcomes, and safety findings vary across studies, so results should not be transferred to this product or to an individual patient.

Gamble et al., 2018. Osteoarthritis and pharmacokinetics. A small randomized, placebo-controlled crossover study in dogs reported improvements in veterinarian and owner measures with the tested CBD oil regimen. Limited in size, and specific to that formulation and dosing schedule. Open publication

McGrath et al., 2019. Idiopathic epilepsy. A randomized blinded clinical trial evaluating CBD as an adjunct to conventional antiepileptic treatment. The CBD group showed a reduction in seizure frequency; the authors also reported limitations and the need for further research. Open publication

Deabold et al., 2019. Pharmacokinetics and preliminary safety. Oral CBD in healthy dogs and cats, with useful background on exposure and tolerability, and a clear note on species differences and the need for veterinary monitoring. Open publication

Regulatory context: the FDA states that CBD has not been approved for use in animals and recommends that pet owners talk with their veterinarians about appropriate treatment options. FDA consumer information

Staff education: CCACS

Fingerboard Farm runs the Certified Companion Animal Cannabinoid Specialist program, a self-paced online course covering the endocannabinoid system, hemp fundamentals, formulation and quality standards, dosing and safety considerations, and how to read a Certificate of Analysis. Ten modules, roughly 40 to 60 minutes, with a final exam at an 80% passing score.

It is an educational certification.
